I installed the video card and software drivers but when I restart I get the error "code 10 this device cannot start" or my monitor goes blank when Windows starts to load. What’s wrong?

If this happens, make sure that you have uninstalled all previous video card drivers. Also, make sure that the motherboard chipset drivers have been installed.

  • Option 1:Try changing the IRQ for the video card in the system BIOS. For information on how to do this, check with your motherboard or computer manufacturer.
  • Option 2:Make note of which slot each PCI device is installed in. Locate the driver CD for each PCI device in case you have to reinstall the driver. Physically remove all the PCI devices except the AGP or x16 PCI Express card and boot up computer in windows. If the problem is fixed, re-install each device, one at a time, into a PCI slot that’s different from the one it was originally in.
  • Option 3:You may also try to "load bios defaults values" or load setup default values" in your system bios.
