Key Features

Active DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 adapter supports 4Kx2K UHD formats at 60 frames per second and 3D video formats up to 1080p at 120Hz.

Compliant to HDMI 2.0 specification. HDMI 2.0 connectivity increases bandwidth up to 18Gbps to transfer 4K content at 60 fps or four times the clarity of 1080p at 60 fps, for ever more powerful audio and visuals.

Audio output support consists of up to 8 channels of LPCM at 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz and 192kHz sample rate and audio sample size of 16, 20 and 24-bits per sample. Supports compressed audio formats (AC-3, DTS) and HBR audio format.

Dynamic synchronization of video and audio streams.

Supports TMDS clock frequency range of 25MHz to 340MHz (HDMI Specification 1.4b) and TMDS character rate (1/4 of TMDS clock frequency) range of 85MHz to 150MHz (HDMI Specification 2.0).

Supports up to 3840x2160 @60Hz refresh rate.

Supports both HDCP version 1.4 specification and HDCP version 2.2 specification.

Support for the wide angle theatrical 21:9 video aspect ratio.

*DisplayPort 1.1a devices may be limited to computer resolutions of up to 2560x1600 and all HDTV resolutions including 1080p.

What is Thunderbolt 3?

Components Thunderbolt™ 3 is the latest version of the Thunderbolt standard for connecting computers and electronic devices. It is capable of the following: Total bandwidth up to 40 Gbps. (Data transfer speeds are dependent on the other features that you are using in your setup.) USB 3.1 Gen 2 support. 4K 60Hz video on one or two separate displays. 5K 60Hz video on a single display. A 10 GbE network connection between two Thunderbolt 3 compatible computers. Up to six devices daisy-chained from a single Thunderbolt 3 port. Alternate modes, such as DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP alt mode). Bi-directional power delivery up to 100W (not all Thunderbolt 3 devices support power delivery). USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 Thunderbolt 3 uses the USB-C connector, but not all host connections, cables and devices with a USB-C connector support Thunderbolt 3. This means that a USB-C device is compatible with a Thunderbolt 3 host connection, but a Thunderbolt 3 device is not compatible with a USB-C host connection. Therefore, it is important to know whether you have a USB-C or a Thunderbolt 3 host, cable or device. What do I do if my display flickers when I use it with my laptop dock?

If you set your display to 4K @ 60Hz and connect a display to the DisplayPort output on the laptop dock, your display may flicker. This issue only affects certain monitors and is a result of an interoperability issue between the hardware used in the display and the dock. This issue is not specific to VisionTek docks. To resolve this issue, you may try any of the following: Connect a USB-C to DisplayPort cable from the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port on the dock to the DisplayPort input on the display. How do I authenticate a newly attached Thunderbolt 3 device?

When first connecting a Thunderbolt 3 device, the device must first be authenticated through Intel's Thunderbolt 3 software. To do so you can use the below instructions as a guide: After connecting a Thunderbolt 3 device the first thing that you should see (assuming that the system NVM, BIOS, drivers, etc are up to date and compatible) is an automatic notification above the system tray notifying you that a new device has been attached. You will want to click OK: After clicking OK, you may get a Windows User Account Control (UAC) popup asking if you "want to allow this app to make changes to your PC?". Click Yes: After clicking yes you should see a windows like this appear which is where you will approve the Thunderbolt 3 device that was just attached: Click on the drop down menu where it says "Do Not Connect" and select "Always Connect".
