No, the VT200 is not backwards compatible with USB 3.0 or 3.1 Type-A. You must use the included USB-C cable with a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 w/ DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt 3 compatible system.

This will happen when your system requires more power than the docking station can supply. It is not an issue, but rather a notification alerting you that the docking station will not charge your laptop but instead, it will extend the battery life. This may also occur if your system does not support power delivery through the USB-C port. Please check with your system manufacturer to ensure your system is compatible.

Please ensure that the provided USB-C cable is in use for proper functionality. Also ensure you are connected using the side of the docking station with the single USB-C port.

Open Display Settings in your operating system. For Windows™ 10, you can right-click on your desktop screen for this window. When the Display Settings window pops up, you will see blocks indicating the connected displays. Simply click and drag the display to the position it is in on your desk. If you are unsure which display is where, you may click on the Identify button which will briefly show a number on each display that correlates to the position in the diagram. The process is similar for Mac OS in that you will need to navigate to the system tray and find displays. From there you can click on a display to identify it as well as move it in relation to the other displays.

For Windows systems you will need to navigate to the power and sleep settings. From there, you should find additional power settings and in here there will be an option for changing what the screen does “When i close the lid:”. Change both options to “Do nothing”. For Mac OS please visit https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201834

We have a variety of docking stations that will provide either Power Delivery or Power Passthrough to a laptop. Be sure that the model you have supports one of these features, and if using a Passthrough dock, be sure that you have an external power supply connected to the dock. In certain cases, a laptop will require more power than the dock can supply which results in extended battery life rather than charging.

Power Delivery is when the docking station comes equipped with a power supply that will support charging. Docking Stations like the VT4500 and VT5000 are Power Delivery Docks and as such, have a power supply included that will supply power to your laptop system through the dock connection. Power Passthrough is when the docking station will support the use of an external power supply, for instance, your USB Type-C power adapter, being connected to the unit which results in Power Passthrough/Delivery. Docking Stations like the VT200 and VT2000 are Power Passthrough Docks and as such, have a USB Type-C In-Port to connect your laptop power supply in order to provide the Power Passthrough.

VisionTek has a few models of docks or docking stations that will require drivers. If the specification for the docking station lists “Built in USB 3.0 GPU, plug and play certified by DisplayLink” you will need to visit https://www.displaylink.com/downloads to download drivers. DisplayLink Docks; VT70, VT100, VT1000, VT4000, VT4500. If you have a Thunderbolt™ 3 docking station, you will not require any drivers but be sure that your Thunderbolt controller is up to date. Thunderbolt 3 Docks; VT4800, VT5000. To update the Thunderbolt™ controller please navigate to your system manufacturers website for more information. Lastly, if your dock operates on the DisplayPort over USB-C protocol then you will not need any drivers specifically for the dock. Please do be sure that your USB drivers are up to date though.
